A Beetroot-Inspired Feast at Campagne Living

A charming Campagne Living - farm-to-table experience rooted in creativity, simplicity, and connection, all inspired by the humble beetroot.

Curated by the brilliant Marilis & Christo, the Italian-inspired venue set the perfect stage for a slow, soulful afternoon. Chef Ivan from TOAST crafted a beautifully styled, beetroot-led menu featuring seasonal produce and a standout Wagyu picanha short rib that melted in the mouth.

Every dish was thoughtfully paired with exquisite wines and MCCs from Montpellier Wine Estate in Tulbagh - each sip enhancing the flavours on the plate in a seamless dance of taste.

Details like linen napkins naturally dyed with beetroot made the experience even more special - magic lies in the thoughtful touches. We were also joined by Suitcase & Chardonnay, whose storytelling eye added to the heart of the day.

A celebration of land, flavour, and community - and a reminder that sometimes, the simplest things leave the biggest impression.

She Grows What the City Forgo

In a little corner of Johannesburg,
a woman bends to earth -
hands deep in the kind of quiet

She plants colour beside survival:
zinnias, dahlias, kale,
a scattering of cosmos among chard,
sunlight and food
woven into rows.

Ducks chatter like old aunts
in the corner of her yard,
while her garden swells
with the small, defiant miracle
of beauty made by hand.

She is not waiting for spring -
she is spring,
cracking open old ground
to remind it how to bloom.

In a city of fences and flight,

to coax life from scraps of sun
and leftover rain.

It’s a wellspring that never runs dry when tendeed to with care. Love thrives in the bonds we forge, the gaze of connection, and the warmth of a gentle touch. It’s an inherent part of us all.

These two lovebirds live in Johannesburg. Their love for each other is truly inspiring.

WHEN IN MILANO

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a pivotal role in making this endeavour a reality.

Merely ten days before the scheduled shoot, I found myself teetering on the brink of canceling the entire project. The sheer magnitude of the organisation and the string of prior rejection and complications weighed heavily on me .

In retrospect, I realised that it was my inner child, gripping by fear, and my antiquated belief system that whispered “impossible”. It was a trial, a moment of reckoning, and I summoned the strength to preserve..

I made one final push to assemble a team, and as if orchestrated by the universe, the right individuals materialised at the perfect juncture. All I had to do was trust in the process and exercise patience. Looking back, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way, except perhaps for my proficiency in Italian.

This experience has ignited a new-found motivation within me to embark on the journey of exploring new horizons.

It's essential to decelerate not just our physical actions but also the whirlwind of our thoughts and the cadence of our breath.
